Volvos shine for Danoher Contracting

Danoher Contracting has a total of eight Volvo wheel loaders in its fleet.

When it comes to load and haul, Danoher Contracting insists on equipment from Volvo Construction Equipment. The contractor ‘s extensive Volvo fleet comprises five excavators, eight wheel loaders and three ADTs .

While Danoher Contracting owner, Neil Danoher, is impressed by the fuel savings achievable with this premium gear, he says after-sales support from local dealer Babcock is another reason for opting for Volvo Construction Equipment. “They are people we can talk and discuss issues with. With Babcock, everyone is a valued customer. It’s all about customer relations for me,” he says.  Danoher says that aftermarket support is another key driver for opting for this range of Volvo machines.

When it comes to tipper trucks, he has been using Mercedes-Benz Benz tipper trucks for many years. Danoher owns five Mercedes-Benz Benz units, but recently started testing MAN trucks. He is hoping that MAN will be able to resolve some of the challenges he faces with his gearboxes on short hauls and where the driver often has to use heavy gears.

Equipment Africa says: Buying “yellow” metal equipment can be costly. Of course, it is of essence for equipment users to consider the quality of the product when buying, but being able to keep it running with minimal downtime related to aftermarket support should also play a bigger role in opting for a certain brand.
