Plant watch: Volvo L70F
This Volvo L70F was spotted working in-and-around the massive stockpiles at a located in the heart of the Gauteng property development boom.
Right on this operation’s doorstep is the massive Waterfall development, which is home to the recently completed massive Mall of Africa and the iconic PwC head-office, which is still being built, alongside a host of other developments.
Volvo is associated with quality and the Babcock brand, its South African representative.
Equipment Africa has dedicated much time to covering a host of developments by this original equipment manufacturer (OEM). More recently, we featured its work in the field of hybrid wheel-loader technology as part of the OEM’s drive to continuously improve the fuel efficiency traits of its products.
The tonnages of essential building materials that this quarry is producing at present, certainly warrants a premium brand at the stockpiles that is backed but a well-known name in the southern African equipment industry.
Importantly, developments under way in Midrand, Sandton and Pretoria in Gauteng by the private sector provide some relief to the embattled South African construction landscape, where public-sector spend has still to gain real momentum!
