“The local hammer market is highly competitive with over 30 brands vying for a share of the South African market. Most plant hire companies are also bringing in their own ranges of hammers, making it a bit overtraded. We do sell a couple of units though, probably two or three a month. In today’s market there are a lot more work tools going onto excavators. We also have a different range of work tools from vibrating rippers through to grapples. The more you can sell these upfront, the more you become a one-stop shop to your customers,” says Whitehead.
