Doosan DX225LCA excavator challenges tough terrain

A Doosan DX225LCA excavator loads a Komatsu articulated dumper in the quarry pit.

Equipment Africa recently witnessed the Doosan DX225LCA excavator in the thick of things at a newly opened quarry in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. To kick-start its construction materials business venture, a South African start-up quarrying company, Real Stone Quarries, has invested in a premium fleet of equipment helping it crush for a sizeable share of the Nquthu, KwaZulu-Natal construction materials market.

The Doosan DX225LCA excavator, the only outsourced piece of plant on site, is loading the Kleemann MC110R EVO jaw crusher, which in turn feeds into the MC095 cone crusher before material goes into the MS16D triple deck screen for separation of the final particle sizes. The same excavator is also used to load the dumper in instances where material is a bit away from the primary jaw crusher.

The heart of the DX225LCA is its six-cylinder water-cooled engine. In combination with the e-EPOS electronic control system, it offers the ultimate in power delivery and fuel economy, as well as lowering running costs. The e-POS provides a synchronised communication link between the engine’s ECU (Electronic Control Unit) and the hydraulic system. A CAN (Controller Area Network) system enables a constant flow of information between the engine and hydraulic system, ensuring power is delivered exactly as needed.
