Cat B-Series hammers for Africa

The full length side plates design provides easier access to service points.

Caterpillar Work Tools has announced the availability of the B20, B30 and B35 top mount hydraulic hammers with Cat hydraulic kits for Africa and the Middle East. The B-series expands the Cat hammer line that is specifically designed for LRC market applications and customer needs.

These hydraulic hammers are ideal for municipal, general construction, demolition, quarry and mining applications. The Cat field installed hydraulic kit enhances the hammers’ performance through the weld-free mounting feature and ability to regulate hydraulic flow, which protects both machine and breaker.

The OEM notes that its customers in Africa and the Middle East are increasingly using hammers in quarries, demolition, utilities and construction job site support. Caterpillar says there has been enquiries for a Caterpillar supported hammer solution that matches the customers’ value expectation.

The top-mount style of the hammers increases impact power by keeping hammer force and stick force in line. Top-mount style also provides with a larger work area and sound operator visibility. Additionally, the top-mount bracket transfers much less forces and bending stress into the end of stick and has less impact on machine structures.

A high-pressure accumulator is standard from factory and field serviceable. It is designed to help protect the carrier hydraulic circuit by absorbing pulsation spikes created during firing stroke. Hammer speed/frequency can be easily adjusted to suit specific applications and give operators the best productivity.

The Cat B-series hammers are designed with mounting brackets specifically built to Cat linkages, as well as the genuine connecting lines and valves to match Cat implement hydraulic kits.  The compatibility to Cat machines are tested and approved by Caterpillar.

Equipment Africa says: As Caterpillar notes, we have also seen the growing need for various attachments on African sites as fleet operators seek to increase equipment versatility. The hammer market is leading the trend, showcased by the influx of Korean brands to challenge the premium offerings already in the market. But, it makes sense for an OEM such as Caterpillar to ensure that its customers have all the tools of trade from one place, backed by the Caterpillar quality of product and the relevant parts and aftermarket support.
