New contractor range extends JCB hydraulic breaker line-up

JCB hydraulic breaker

The range includes 13 models, from 100kg through to 3,8 tonne operating weight.

JCB Attachments has doubled the number of hydraulic breakers designed to work with its excavators, backhoe loaders and compact machinery lines, with the launch of the Contractor hammer range. Contractor breakers will be available alongside the existing Professional line of hydraulic hammers. Both Professional and Contractor breakers will now be supplied with a three-year warranty.

Contractor hydraulic hammers have been specifically designed for customers looking for a solution to work in less arduous conditions. Each hammer is said to have been extensively tested and matched to work perfectly with JCB carrier machine.

The range includes 13 models, from the compact HM012T that tips the scales at just 100kg operating weight to suit mini and micro excavators, through to the 3,8 tonne HM380T that has been designed to work with excavators in the 46-50 tonne category.  All models come backed by a three-year manufacturer warranty.

All Contractor breakers have accumulators to protect the carrier machine from hydraulic pressure spikes, reducing possible wear and tear on the hydraulic system. They are also equipped with auxiliary relief valves, to protect the breaker from damage when used with other makes of machinery.

Hammers for use with equipment above 11 tonnes in operating weight come as standard with a refillable auto greasing system, ensuring the breaker always receives the correct amount of lubrication throughout the working day. This cuts downtime and boosts productivity. All breakers feature dust seals to prevent dust ingress and to ensure that lubrication remains inside the hammer body.

Twin oval tool retaining pins are included on heavier models, delivering double the life of a standard pin, as they can be rotated to wear on both sides. Smaller breakers are equipped with a single tool retainer. Two-speed control valves on models above nine tonne carrier weight allow the operator to customise tool speed and stroke length, dependent on the material that is being broken. This increases productivity and reduces the risk of damage to the breaker and the carrier.

Internal control valves are said to deliver up to 10% higher efficiency against competitive products with external valves. This includes reduced maintenance as the oil flow is improved, reducing heat build-up in the system and protecting internal seals. Heavier models also feature blank firing protection, further cutting the potential for damage to the breaker and wear to the carrier machine.

Contractor breakers use a single scaled design with the same maintenance requirements for each model. This ensures that dealer and customer service staff, particularly in a rental operation, can easily work on all hammers in the range.

Contractor breakers at a glance:

  • Complete range for 0,8-50 tonne carrier machines
  • Accumulators to protect carrier machinery from hydraulic pressure spikes
  • Models above 11 tonne carrier weight equipped with auto greasing systems
  • Two-speed control valves permit tool speed and stroke customisation above nine tonnes
  • Internal control valves deliver 10% efficiency boost versus competitors
